Portable anti-aircraft missile systems (MANPADS) "Thunder", which Poland will provide to Ukraine, would now be very useful to Kiev. This is stated in the article edition of The Drive.

According to the author of the publication, in the event of an attack on Ukraine, Russia will use helicopters and attack aircraft, against which MANPADS are very effective.

“MANPADS can threaten all types of aircraft, from fighter jets to helicopters, especially those that do not have reliable infrared countermeasure systems,” writes journalist Joseph Trevithick.

At the same time, the analyst noted that it is not yet clear what modifications of the Grom Ukraine will receive, and whether they will be able to effectively resist modern Russian aircraft, including unmanned aerial vehicles.

Trevithik also draws attention to the fact that the Thunder is similar to the Igla MANPADS, which is already at the disposal of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. This will allow the Ukrainian military to reduce the time for training in the use of new weapons.

Earlier it was reported that former Polish Foreign Minister Radoslav Sikorski criticized Germany for refusing to supply weapons to Ukraine and demanded that the German side change its position and restore "shattered confidence."
