Zakharova demanded explanations from Psaki regarding allegations of “Russian invasion”

The official representative of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Maria Zakharova, demanded an explanation from the White House press secretary, Jen Psaki, why she and her colleagues, when making statements about a hypothetical “invasion” of the Russian Federation into Ukraine, claim that an attack is inevitable. The Russian diplomat wrote about this in her Telegram channel.

“But yesterday, US Ambassador to the UN Linda Thomas-Greenfield said she would refrain from using the word inevitable. She does not believe that a Russian invasion of Ukrainevitable. Please explain what are your current assessments in this regard, ”Zakharova turned to Psaki.

Psaki, in turn, replied that she used the word "inevitably" once, and other US officials did the same.

“Then we stopped using it because it sent a signal that we didn’t intend to send – as if we knew President [Russian Vladimir] Putin had made a decision. I would say that in most cases I said that he could invade at any time. That's true, but we still don't know if he made a decision," the White House press secretary said.

She stressed that she had not used the word “inevitable” for more than a week.

The day before, during a regular briefing for journalists, White House press secretary Jen Psaki said that the United States no longer uses the term "imminent" in relation to a possible "invasion" of Ukraine.
