Russia (bbabo.net), - According to the forecasts of a well-known Russian virologist, director of the Research Institute of Epidemiology and Microbiology named after G.P. Somov of Rospotrebnadzor, head of the Department of Epidemiology of the FEFU School of Biomedicine Mikhail Shchelkanov, the world will live in a coronavirus pandemic, perhaps for another three years, writes RIA Novosti.
At the same time, Mikhail Shchelkanov stressed that this period will largely depend on the speed of the formation of herd immunity.
“There are a large number of regional peculiarities, but if we talk about the general long-term trend, then we need to prepare for the fact that in 2022 we will still be in a pandemic, as well as in 2023 and, possibly, 2024. But everything will be largely determined by how fast our herd immunity levels will rise and whetherd immunity levels will keep up with the variability of the virus," he said.
