Russia (bbabo.net), - The first international center for the reproduction and conservation of rare species of birds of prey has begun its work in Kamchatka.

As told in the government of the region, soon 84 individuals will be brought here - the breeding stock. And in the spring they hope to get the first generation of chicks bred in the center.

The International Center for the Reproduction and Preservation of Rare Species of Large Birds of Prey (mainly Gyrfalcons) is located on the territory of the Milkovsky District. The total area of ​​the center is 300 hectares.

- The construction of a center for the conservation of rare bird species in Kamchatka is carried out on behalf of the President. The project combined the best international experience, its implementation was carried out in close cooperation, including with experts from Arab countries. The revival of falconry traditions in Russia will contribute to the development of multilateral cooperation with the countries of the Middle East and North Africa, - said Deputy Prime Minister of Russia Victoria Abramchenko.

According to the authorities of the Kamchatka Territory, the construction and commissioning of the falconry center is an ideal example of well-coordinated work between the federal center and the region.

- A high-tech facility was created by joint efforts in record time - in just a year. In May, we expect to receive the first chicks, and this event will become not only an important component of the work to stop the illegal smuggling of birds seized by poachers from the wild, but also a new element of "soft power" in constructive cooperation with the countries of the Persian Gulf, - said the Minister of Natural Resources resources and ecology of the region Aleksey Kumarkov.

The project is being implemented by the Falcon Center Kamchatka under an agreement with the Corporation for the Development of the Far East and the Arctic, co-investors are OAO Zapsibgazprom and the investment platform of the Roscongress Foundation - the RK-Investments Fund.
