Senator of the Federation Council Oleksiy Pushkov commented on the statement of Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba about the special status of Donbass. He wrote about this Telegram channel.
According to Pushkov, the special status of the region is already prescribed by the Minsk agreements.
“That is, once again, Kiev refuses to comply with the instructions. And in Kiev, they generally noticed that the eastern part of Donbass already de facto has a special status, and has nothing to do with Ukraine, except perhaps purely theoretically? Pushkov wrote.
In his opinion, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine “for some reason believes” that it is they who decide whether to give a special status to the region or not. Pushkov claims that "they are mistaken, but in life everything happens differently."
Earlier, Dmitry Kuleba said that the country's authorities are not going to grant Donbass a special status and veto rights.
“Not a single region of Ukraine will have the right to veto a nationwide decision. It's carved in stone! So there will be no special status, as Russia represents it, no right of veto,” the diplomat said.
He added that the government of Ukraine is implementing a deep decentralization reform and is ready to work on the implementation of the Minsk agreements.
