Russia - Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Grushko: US Decision to Transfer Military to Europe

Russia (bbabo.net), - The US decision to send several thousand of its troops to Europe is a destructive step, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Grushko believes.

"Destructive steps that are not justified by anyone, they increase military tension, narrow the field for political decisions," Interfax quoted the diplomat as saying.

Grushko also noted that such a decision by the American side "only to the delight of the authorities in Kiev - you can continue to sabotage the Minsk agreements with impunity."

Earlier on February 2, Pentagon spokesman John Kirby confirmed the dispatch of several thousand US troops to Germany, Romania and Poland. In total, up to 8.5 thousand US military can be temporarily deployed in these countries in addition to those already there.

Kirby also stressed that the forces moving to Europe are "trained and equipped to carry out various missions to deter aggression and protect our allies ... and are not designed to fight in Ukraine."
