Russia - Volodin: State Duma to discuss free hospitalization of disabled children with parents

Russia (bbabo.net), - Speaker of the State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin, in his Telegram channel, announced the consideration of a bill on free hospitalization of disabled children with their parents.

According to him, the document will be discussed at the Duma Council on February 14 and will be considered at a meeting of the chamber on February 15.

The bill was submitted to the State Duma in September last year, and was sponsored by a group of deputies and senators from United Russia.

According to the amendments, a disabled child will be able to stay in the hospital together with one of their relatives in the hospital free of charge. The status of a disabled person will be enough, additional medical indications will not be needed.

“Often a child needs long-term treatment in hospitals in district centers or large cities,” Volodin noted, “and his mom and dad don’t have the means to be around. Disabled children in such a situation especially need the support and help of loved ones.”

Earlier, the profile committee of the State Duma on health protection supported the draft and recommended that the deputies adopt it in the first reading.

Meanwhile, over the past few years, the State Duma has adopted a number of laws that help parents and children not to be separated for the period of treatment. In particular, parents are allowed to stay in hospitals with children under four years old, and for medical reasons with older children. In addition, relatives received the right to be in intensive care with their loved ones, regardless of the age of the patient.
