U.S. Secretary of State Anthony Blinken said he would speak with his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov on Saturday.

On February 2, Russian and US Foreign Ministers Sergey Lavrov and Anthony Blinken had a telephone conversation. They discussed security guarantees, to which the Russian Foreign Ministry had previously received a response, as well as possible meetings of the heads of state.

Blinken confirmed the position of the American side that each state has the right to independently determine its foreign policy, including in the matter of union elections.

In mid-December last year, the Russian Foreign Ministry published security agreements for the US and NATO. They took into account the concerns of the parties, in particular on the situation in Ukraine. Russia's main conditions are that NATO will not move east and will deny Ukraine membership in the alliance.
