The migrants' union acquitted the authorities of the Kaluga region for restrictions on visitors

The Trade Union of Migrant Workers does not consider discriminatory the decision of the governor of the Kaluga region Vladislav Shapsha to ban immigrants from working in a number of areas. This was stated in a conversation with the chairman of the trade union Renat Karimov.

“The governors had and still have such powers when they can restrict in certain sectors. I don't see any discrimination here. The governor is trying to solve the situation, focusing on the opinion of the inhabitants of the region. If people are concerned about this problem, and it cannot be resolved by some measures of informing that foreigners are making a significant contribution to the development of the region. What if it doesn't help? You either have to put up with it and work in another area, or change your place of residence,” Karimov said.

Earlier, Abdullo Davlatov, chairman of the Union of Tajikists of Russia, called the decision of the governor of the Kaluga region to ban migrants from working in the region incorrect. In his opinion, this may be a manifestation of nationalism or idiocy, and Shapsha is engaged in populism.

Governor Vladislav Shapsha announced the decision of the Kaluga authorities to ban the work of foreign citizens in the areas of catering, transport and retail trade on February 11. Later, the governor clarified that this is not a total ban on work for migrants. According to him, visitors will be able to close those vacancies that are not in demand among local residents.
