Ex-Prime Minister of the DPR called an alternative to the Minsk agreements

Former Prime Minister of the DPR, Deputy Head of the State Duma Committee on CIS Affairs, Eurasian Integration and Relations with Compatriots Alexander Borodai: "Russia's recognition of the DPR and LPR could become an alternative to the Minsk agreements in the matter of establishing peace." It is reported by "Lenta.ru".

The issue of appealing to the President of the Russian Federation on the recognition of the DPR and LPR is going to be considered in the State Duma Council on February 14. According to the speaker of the State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin, before sending the idea to the Kremlin, it can be sent to the Foreign Ministry and other government agencies to receive feedback.

Boroday is in favor of this proposal - he considers it one of the alternative ways of de-occupation.

“After all, the Russian population of Donbass, the volunteers who came from Russia, continue to fight and die. The war has not stopped, but continues in a sluggish phase,” Borodai said, recalling that “for the eighth year now” not only military volunteers, but also civilians, including children, have been killed.

The only state that has recognized the independence of both republics is South Ossetia, which itself is not a member of the UN and has limited recognition.
