Russia (bbabo.net), - In 2021, the Russian Ombudsman received a record number of applications from citizens - about 60 thousand. This was stated by the Commissioner for Human Rights in Russia Tatyana Moskalkova on the eve of the 25th anniversary of the adoption of the law "On the Commissioner for Human Rights in the Russian Federation", celebrated on February 14. The human rights activist spoke about this in an interview with Parliamentary Newspaper.

"Over the past five years, we have managed to increase the number of people who have been helped six times," Moskalkova said. She noted that with the help of the Ombudsman, more than 2,500 people received apartments and social payments for the purchase of housing, 1,694 families were given the opportunity to resettle, and many received back wage arrears in the amount of more than 1.3 billion rubles.

Also, according to the Russian Ombudsman, violations in the housing and communal services sector committed against more than 25,000 people were eliminated, the rights of almost 4,800 victims and 517 accused and defendants were restored, and preliminary investigations were resumed in 376 criminal cases.

"Thanks to the institution of the Ombudsman, hundreds of thousands of Russians have received real assistance over a quarter of a century," the Ombudswoman concluded.
