The Russian Orthodox Church will not publicly discuss prayers for the health of Zhirinovsky

State Duma deputy from the LDPR Vasily Vlasov sent a letter to Patriarch Kirill with a request to pray for party leader Vladimir Zhirinovsky, who was hospitalized with COVID-19. Vakhtang Kipshidze, deputy chairman of the synodal department for relations between the church, society and the media of the Moscow Patriarchate, said that prayers for the health of a sick person should not be discussed publicly.

“You know, we have not received the letter yet, as far as I know. But I would think that, nevertheless, the question of prayer for a person who is sick is not a subject of public discussion,” he said.

Earlier, the Ministry of Health reported that LDPR leader Vladimir Zhirinovsky, who contracted the coronavirus, is in a stable condition.

“Doctors continue to provide all possible medical assistance in this situation,” the ministry said.

On February 9, it became known that Zhirinovsky was hospitalized with the coronavirus. Various media reported that he was in serious condition with bilateral pneumonia. Politician lung involvement estimates range from 30 to 75%. At the same time, the Liberal Democratic Party stated that their leader daily studies the press, working documents, gives instructions by phone, and will probably soon return to full-fledged, active work.
