Turkish intelligence has uncovered a spy cell of nine Iranian agents plotting the assassination of an Israeli-Turkish aerospace businessman.
According to the Times of Israel, the crime was supposed to be revenge for the Iranian nuclear scientist Mahsen Fakhrizade, who was considered the head of Iran's nuclear program and whose murder in November 2020 is accused by Israeli intelligence Mossad.
A group of Iranian agents was found while spying on businessman Jan Geller. Turkish intelligence agencies passed information about the assassination attempt to the Mossad, who tried to bring Geller to Israel.
It is noted that the commander of the detachment was Iranian intelligence officer Yassin Taheremamkendi. At the same time, in addition to the Iranians, the group included Turkish citizens.
Geller himself confirmed that an assassination attempt was being prepared on him, but said that he felt safer in Turkey than in Israel.
Earlier it was reported that the assassination of Iranian nuclear scientist Mohsen Fakhrizadeh took place using a robotic rifle complex. Fakhrizadeh was shot dead as he got out of the armored car to check the engine. The assassination attempt was prepared for 14 years in order to prevent the creation of a nuclear missile in Iran.
