UAE and Qatar hold talks to lift blockade over terrorist support

A delegation from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) arrived in Doha to develop a mechanism for lifting the economic blockade of Qatar, introduced in 2017 due to the country's support for terrorist organizations, Al Arabiya reports.

According to the publication, the visit is aimed at restoring diplomatic relations between the UAE and Qatar. At the meeting, representatives of the two countries discussed the mechanism for implementing the solidarity and stability agreement signed by the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Bahrain and Kuwait in 2021.

This document marked the beginning of the lifting of the economic and trade blockade on Qatar, which the Persian Gulf countries imposed in 2017, accusing this country of supporting terrorism and interfering in the internal affairs of other countries.

Earlier, US President Joe Biden promised to include Qatar in the list of major US allies outside NATO. He called this country a "good friend" and a reliable partner.
