NATO to deploy multinational troops in Eastern Europe

NATO has approved a military proposal to deploy multinational troops in Eastern Europe, presumably in Romania, Bulgaria and Slovakia. This is reported by the agency DPA.

It is noted that the defense ministers of the member countries of the alliance must confirm the relevant decision during a meeting on February 16, after which an official statement will be made. The plan is expected to be operational in spring 2022.

According to the agency, the United States and France can provide troops for the contingents. These measures are a reaction to the "behavior of Russia."

The day before, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said that the alliance is considering the possibility of deploying its troops in Romania in the Black Sea region.

“Now we have battle groups in the Baltic States and Poland. We are studying the possibility of deploying similar groups in the Black Sea region in Romania,” he said.
