Peskov confirmed that Macron did not take a PCR test before meeting with Putin

Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov confirmed that French President Emmanuel Macron did not take a PCR test in Russia before meeting with Russian leader Vladimir Putin, which is why the heads of state sat far apart during the talks.

Earlier, Reuters reported that the French president turned down the Kremlin's request to take a COVID-19 test, so he was "kept at a distance" from Putin.

“Yes, indeed,” Peskov answered the question of whether the agency’s data was true.

At the same time, the Kremlin spokesman stressed that such situations are devoid of political overtones and do not interfere with negotiations.

“In some situations, Putin communicates with guests nearby, shakes hands, and with someone negotiations take place at a long table,” Peskov said.

According to him, some world leaders “follow their own rules” and do not exchange coronavirus tests with their hosts.

“But here comes the protocol to protect the health of our president and guests and a greater distance is applied,” the Kremlin spokesman explained.

The talks between Putin and Macron took place in Moscow on February 7 and lasted more than five hours.
