Hungary sees no need for additional NATO forces

The head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) of Hungary, Peter Szijjarto, said that the country would not agree to the deployment of additional troops at home. The minister told Euronews about this.

According to Szijjártó, the military forces of the Hungarian armed forces and the North Atlantic Alliance are missing at the moment.

“No, we did not agree to this and will not agree, because we already have NATO troops on the territory of the country - this is the Hungarian army and the armed forces of Hungary, which are in proper shape to guarantee the security of the country,” the Foreign Minister stressed.

Szijjarto also turned to the United States, Europe and Russia with a request to continue negotiations. The Minister believes that the interaction of Washington, Moscow and European countries will eliminate the "worst-case scenario" of the Ukrainian crisis. He drew attention to the fact that if the situation worsens, it is Central Europe that will suffer the greatest losses.

In recent months, the West and Kiev, in particular, began to hear statements about the allegedly impending “invasion” of the Russian Federation into Ukraine. In turn, the Kremlin has more than once directly denied any plans for an attack.

Earlier it was reported that the US Senate is considering new sanctions against Russia due to "cyber attacks" on Ukraine.
