Russia and Belarus began joint exercise Allied Resolve - 2022

The Russian-Belarusian exercise "Allied Resolve - 2022" has begun in Belarus. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation.

The military of both countries will work out the tasks "to suppress and repel external aggression in the course of a defensive operation, as well as counter terrorism and protect the interests of the Union State," the ministry said.

The exercise will take place at five Belarusian training grounds (Domanovsky, Gozhsky, Obuz-Lesnovsky, Brest and Osipovichsky) and in separate areas of the area. The maneuvers should last until 20 February.

“Measures will be taken to strengthen the protection of the state border to prevent the penetration of armed groups of militants, block the channels for the delivery of weapons and ammunition, search, block, destroy illegal armed groups and sabotage and reconnaissance groups of a mock enemy. Also, during the exercise, the airfields of Baranovichi, Luninets, Lida and Machulishchi will be involved, ”the Russian Defense Ministry said.

The number of military and weapons participating in the exercise is not disclosed. At the same time, it is noted that their number "does not exceed the parameters specified by the Vienna Document 2011, which are subject to notification."

Press Secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov said that the joint exercises of Russia and Belarus are taking place against the backdrop of unprecedented threats to the national security of the two countries. He also said that Russian President Vladimir Putin had no plans to attend the exercise.
