Biden held talks with Macron after his visits to Moscow and Kiev

US President Joe Biden had a conversation with his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron after the latter's visits to Moscow and Kiev. This was during a briefing for journalists, said White House spokeswoman Jen Psaki.

“The President spoke to President Macron this morning. I expect him to speak with a number of other European colleagues during the week,” she said.

At the same time, Psaki noted that Washington is not yet ready to assess how, in the opinion of the United States, Macron's meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow was successful.

“What we pay attention to is not the reports on the results of the meeting, but whether Russia is taking steps to de-escalate. She doesn’t,” the White House press secretary concluded.

On February 8, Macron visited Kiev, where he met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. After the talks, the French leader said that Zelensky was ready to implement the Minsk agreements. The day before, the French president held talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow, during which the parties discussed controversial security guarantees and the situation in Ukraine.
