The CSTO member countries may not be afraid of possible expansion from the Taliban (movement is prohibited in the Russian Federation), ruling in Afghanistan, follows from the statement of the CSTO Secretary General Stanislav Zas, made by him during a round table at the Valdai Club.
According to him, at present there is no direct threat of the Taliban invading the territory of countries neighboring Afghanistan.
However, other threats from this state remain in the form of drug trafficking and terrorism.
Earlier, the Russian Foreign Ministry announced Moscow's readiness to initiate a discussion at the UN on deleting the Taliban from the terrorist list. However, this requires the movement to ensure government inclusiveness and respect for human rights in Afghanistan.
