US sends more troops to Europe

US President Joe Biden has officially approved the deployment of additional US troops in Eastern Europe, CNN reports, citing White House sources.

According to the channel, this deployment is a show of support for NATO allies who "feel threatened by Russia's military actions near Ukraine."

The Pentagon is expected to announce the deployment of thousands of additional US troops to Europe in the near future. In particular, sources told CNN that the United States will deploy about 2,000 soldiers to Poland, and several thousand more are planned to be deployed on the southeastern flank of NATO, including in Romania.

At the same time, according to the WSJ, we can talk about the deployment of up to 3 thousand military personnel.

In recent months, statements have been made in the West and Ukraine in particular about Russia's allegedly impending "invasion" of Ukraine. In turn, the Kremlin more than once directly denied any plans to attack Ukraine, on the contrary, pointing to the possible preparation of a military operation in the Donbass by Kiev.

Earlier, Pentagon spokesman John Kirby, during a briefing for journalists, said that the Pentagon had not yet received an order to begin the transfer of US troops to Europe.
