Lithuania's decision to stop the transit of Belarusian potash fertilizers is illegal and grossly violates the rule of law. This was stated by the press secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Belarus Anatoly Glaz. His words are quoted by the agency "Belta".

“The illegal decision of the government of the Republic of Lithuania to stop the transit of Belarusian potash fertilizers grossly violates the rule of law, direct bilateral and multilateral obligations of the Lithuanian side,” Anatoly Glaz said.

The diplomat also noted that the Office of Foreign Assets Control of the US Department of the Treasury (OFAC) officially informed the Lithuanian side that the US sanctions against Belaruskali are not binding on Lithuanian Railways.

“Accordingly, the decision of the current government of Lithuania is initiative. In this context, this step is an element of hybrid aggression against Belarus, aimed at causing direct economic damage to the well-being of the Belarusian people,” the press secretary of the diplomatic department noted.

Prime Minister of Belarus Roman Golovchenko earlier announced Minsk's retaliatory measures after the cessation of the transit of Belarusian potassium through Lithuania.
