Russia - Internet will be installed in 11 remote villages of the Kaliningrad region

Russia (bbabo.net), - Eleven remote villages of the Kaliningrad region with a population of one hundred to five hundred people in 2022 will receive a 4G generation mobile network. This will provide residents of the outback with fast Internet and high-quality video.

The quota for this number of settlements was allocated to the westernmost region by the Ministry of Digital Development, Communications and Mass Media of Russia as part of the Digital Economy national project. And it was the residents themselves who had to determine in which particular settlements new communication towers would appear, it was their activity that was the main condition for selection.

Voting was held last year on the State Services portal. Nearly 7,000 people voted for the emergence of a reliable Internet connection in small towns. The most active were residents of the villages of Zaozerye, Podlipovo, Otkosovo, Zalivnoye, Matrosovo, Kuznetskoye, Rassvet, Krasnolesye, Rovnoye, Ushakovo, as well as Soldatovo (Guards municipal district). They will soon have the opportunity to use fourth-generation cellular networks.

Although the territory of the westernmost region is quite compact by Russian standards, there are still white spots on the map of mobile operators here. About three percent of the region's population lives in small settlements far from large villages or cities and needs high-quality communications. A new vote to connect small communities to the mobile Internet in 2023 will take place this fall.
