The US and NATO responses to Russia's proposals on security guarantees are "worthless," said Yury Shvytkin, deputy chairman of the State Duma's defense committee.

He drew attention to the fact that the United States ignored three key issues raised by the Russian side: the non-advancement of NATO to the east, the non-deployment of strike complexes near the borders of the Russian Federation, and the return to the provisions of the 1997 Russia-NATO founding act.

“Unfortunately, these requirements have not been implemented by the United States. I believe that these answers in this case are worthless, not suiting our country, this is an attempt to wag the tail on the part of the United States, ”said the deputy.

According to the parliamentarian, further actions will already be determined within the framework of the negotiation processes, from which Russia does not leave. Dialogue is being held between the heads of the foreign affairs agencies of the Russian Federation and the United States, Sergei Lavrov and Anthony Blinken, this topic can also be discussed at the Beijing Olympics, where Russian President Vladimir Putin will go.

“But the final result is important to us, and most importantly, legally fixed answers. In any case, I question the information of the Spanish publication and have the data that the President of Russia voiced, ”stated Yuri Shvytkin.

Earlier, the Spanish El Pais reported that it had at its disposal the full text of the confidential response of the United States and NATO to Russia's proposals on security guarantees. Its authenticity was confirmed by a diplomatic source for RIA Novosti in Vienna.

The US and NATO gave Russia their written responses to Moscow's security guarantees on January 26. In statements, they outlined their principles in negotiations with the Russian Federation.
