Russia - The Kremlin called Putin's three messages on security guarantees

Russia (bbabo.net), - Russian President Vladimir Putin spoke with restrained optimism about the possibility of solving the problem of security guarantees for Russia, if the US and NATO were willing. This was announced at a briefing on February 2 by his press secretary Dmitry Peskov.

"Still, he spoke with very restrained optimism and hope about the possibility of resolving the problem of security guarantees for Russia, if desired, and through, of course, diplomatic negotiations," Peskov said.

The day before, at a press conference following talks with Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, the Russian leader assessed the course of negotiations and the responses of the United States and NATO on security guarantees for the Russian Federation. Peskov noted three main messages from Putin. The first is that at one time the West deceived Moscow when it promised that NATO forces would not expand to the east. The President of the Russian Federation also drew attention to the fact that the national security strategy of Ukraine directly allows the use of force to return territories. Then, hypothetically, a situation may arise when a NATO member attacks our country, there will be a threat of war between Russia and the NATO bloc. The third message is Vladimir Putin's words about NATO's open door policy, although the thesis about this has not been recorded anywhere.
