Lithuania allowed EU assistance to Ukraine in the field of cybersecurity

Deputy Minister of National Defense of Lithuania Margiris Abukevicius, during a meeting of the EU Cyber ​​Security Rapid Response Force, admitted that Ukraine would be able to use Europe's help in countering cyber attacks.

“The mobilization of these forces within the framework of the common political missions and operations of the European Union in the field of security and defense, as well as assistance to Ukraine as our partner, would serve even more credibility in relation to the project of the EU Rapid Reaction Force,” Abukevicius was quoted as saying by the Lithuanian Ministry of Defense.

During the meeting, the Deputy Minister stressed that the EU Cybersecurity Rapid Response Force has become one of the most successful projects of the European Permanent Structural Cooperation Program (PESCO). It was approved at the end of 2017. The participants are Lithuania, Poland, the Netherlands, Romania, Croatia and Estonia. Slovenia also expressed a desire to participate, but its candidacy should be approved this year. At present, it remains on a par with Finland, France, Spain, Italy, Greece and Belgium in the status of an observer of the initiative.

Earlier, the deputy of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Oleksiy Goncharenko said that the country expects the supply of Javelin anti-tank missile systems from Lithuania.
