Russian Ambassador to Japan Mikhail Galuzin condemned Tokyo's rhetoric on Ukraine, noting that the statements of the Japanese authorities contradict their previous statements about "good neighborly relations" with Russia, TASS reports.
“The rhetoric that Japan will take some tough measures in the event of what is called Russia’s invasion of Ukraine contradicts the spirit of good neighborly relations between the Russian Federation and Japan, contradicts the agreements between our leaders on the comprehensive development of relations between the two countries,” Galuzin said.
He noted that the statements of Japanese officials are counterproductive and suggested that Russia's proposals on security be carefully re-read.
“I would like to sincerely recommend our Japanese colleagues to read again and deeply study our proposals and initiatives related to European security, which we addressed to the United States and the NATO bloc,” the ambassador summed up.
During an online meeting between US President Joe Biden and Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida, the head of the Japanese government said that Japan supports actions aimed at "preventing Russian aggression against Ukraine."
