Head of the Constitutional Chamber and Chairman of the Supreme Court resign in Kyrgyzstan

In Kyrgyzstan, the head of the Constitutional Chamber (KP) of the Kyrgyz Republic Karybek Duisheev and the chairman of the Supreme Court (SC) of the Kyrgyz Republic Nurgul Bakirova resigned. This was stated by the representative of the President in the Parliament of Kyrgyzstan Almasbek Abytov.

Today, February 2, 2022, legislators unanimously accepted the resignation of the heads of the Constitutional Chamber and the Supreme Court.

Before the issue was put to a vote, the deputies asked high-ranking judicial officials about the reasons for such a step and whether there was any pressure on them? Karybek Duisheev and Nurgul Bakirova answered in the negative and explained that they decided to leave their posts of their own free will.

Recall that Nurgul Bakirova was elected Chairperson of the Supreme Court less than a year ago, in April 2021. Prior to that, she served as Deputy Chairman of the Armed Forces of the Kyrgyz Republic. Karybek Duisheev headed the Constitutional Chamber of the Kyrgyz Republic in July 2019.
