Kazakhstan introduced a ban on salary increases for ministers and deputies

The government of Kazakhstan approved a resolution according to which the wages of ministers, deputies and heads of cities of the republic will not increase. This was reported by the press service of the Prime Minister on the official website.

On January 11, the President of the Republic, Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev, announced a five-year moratorium on raising the salaries of officials.

The head of state also decided to create a public social fund, its activities will be aimed at solving social problems. "Significant and regular contributions" should go to the fund from those businessmen who became rich thanks to former President Nursultan Nazarbayev.

The project was presented in Parliament.

Earlier it was reported that the former first deputy head of the National Security Committee Murat Nurtleu became the new head of the presidential administration of Kazakhstan.

At the same time, Nurtleu was previously appointed first deputy head of the KNB on January 5, during mass protests in Kazakhstan that turned into pogroms.

Prior to that, since March 2019, Murat Nurtleu was an assistant to the President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. In the period from 2016 to 2019, Nurtleu was the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Kazakhstan to Finland and Estonia concurrently.
