The creators of The Sims 4 will not release the add-on Wedding stories in Russia because of the LGBT heroines

The developers of The Sims 4 have announced that they will not release the My Wedding Stories add-on in Russia, since the add-on set contains LGBT characters. This was reported on the website of the publisher Electronic Arts.

The previously announced add-on introduced new options related to wedding ceremonies, as well as sets of sims, among which there is a couple of girls Dominika and Camilla. The creators of the game explained that their game story "reflects the personal experience of many members of our community and the development team", but it will not be possible to tell it freely in all countries of the world.

The message from the developers says that the main principle of The Sims is the ability to create any story without restrictions. According to them, abandoning the history of Camilla and Dominica would be a compromise with their principles. The creators of the game noted that they could not tell it "without significant changes", so it was decided to abandon the release of "Wedding Stories" in Russia.

The couple of Sims in question are also featured in the expansion's trailer posted on The Sims YouTube channel.

Since 2013, a law has been in force in Russia that prohibits “propaganda of non-traditional sexual relations” among minors. In 2017, the European Court of Human Rights found the law discriminatory and in violation of the European Convention on Human Rights.
