Russia (bbabo.net), - Director and musician Emir Kusturica will attend the opening of the film festival "Spirit of Fire" in Khanty-Mansiysk and give a concert together with the folk-rock band The No Smoking Orchestra.

Speaking at the opening ceremony as an honored guest, ugra-news.ru reports with reference to the governor of the region Natalya Komarova.

It is noted that the last time Emir Kusturica was in Khanty-Mansiysk in 2012. Then he gave a concert and held a creative evening. The director had already been invited to the "Spirit of Fire" in 2016, but then he refused the visit and recorded a video message in which he explained that he could not come because of the work on the film.

Emir Kusturica is a Yugoslav and Serbian film director, actor, screenwriter, producer, and composer. His work has won awards at major European film festivals, including two Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival. Among his paintings are "Time of the Gypsies" (1989), "Underground" (1995), "Black Cat, White Cat" (1998), "Life is a Miracle" (2003), Invisible Children (2005).

In 1998, a group of musicians, who met back in 1978, for the first time, under the No Smoking Orchestra, recorded the soundtrack for the film "Black Cat, White Cat" and received an award for it at the International Film Music Biennale. From next year, the director becomes the band's permanent rhythm guitarist. Emir's son, Stribor, plays drums in the band. The music of The No Smoking Orchestra also sounds in the films "Life is a miracle" and "Time of the Gypsies".
