Insurers named the regions of the Russian Federation with the most dangerous public transport

Accidents involving fixed-route taxis, city and suburban buses most often occur in the Smolensk region, St. Petersburg and the Novosibirsk region. AlfaStrakhovanie spoke about this by analyzing the structure of insurance payments under the policies of compulsory carrier civil liability insurance (OSGOP) from 2019 to 2021.

The Smolensk region accounted for 15.3% of the total number of accidents. In St. Petersburg, 13.4% of accidents were recorded, and in the Novosibirsk region - 10.5%. Following are Moscow and the Stavropol Territory (9.5% each) with the Chelyabinsk Region (6.0%).

Penza region (5.9), Voronezh region (4.3%), Altai region (2.7%) and Sakhalin region (2.5%) also got into the top ten of the rating of regions with the most emergency public transport.

Most often, injured passengers applied for insurance payments due to minor bodily injuries, including soft tissue bruises and brain concussions of varying degrees. Next in frequency are leg and/or arm fractures, as well as severe injuries, such as a hip fracture. Most of the passengers received minor and moderate injuries due to a fall in the passenger compartment of public transport, caused by the driver's sudden braking in an attempt to avoid an accident, experts noted.

Earlier, Russian car owners assessed how suitable their cars are for people of mature age. The ranking included only crossovers and SUVs.
