Russia - Scheduled care resumes in Moscow polyclinics

Russia (bbabo.net), - From Monday, February 14, Moscow polyclinics begin to increase the volume of planned medical care, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin announced on his personal blog. He explained that this is due to the fact that the number of patients with symptoms of acute respiratory viral infections has decreased, and the situation with the incidence of coronavirus in the city has stabilized.

Indeed, hospitalizations, which a week before had averaged up to 1,600 people a day, fell yesterday to 1,047 cases. Significantly fewer infected people were also detected - 12,496 people, but almost twice as many Muscovites recovered in the same day - 24,573. European cities, in three to four weeks." For such a period, planned care was suspended in the city's polyclinics.

The fact is that at this peak in the incidence of coronavirus, the main burden fell on the outpatient link. To cope with it, special departments were opened in all polyclinics to receive patients with symptoms of SARS. Almost three thousand doctors on duty and the same number of nurses and administrators worked in shifts. For the first time in the history of the outpatient department, the mayor recalls, telemedicine divisions of polyclinics were organized. This made it possible for every Muscovite, if necessary, not only to receive a doctor's consultation by phone, but also to remotely open a sick leave, and after recovery, close it without visiting a clinic. Only last week, health workers came into contact with patients with SARS and coronavirus 780 thousand times. At the end of January, this figure reached 800 thousand. "Record figures in the entire history of Moscow healthcare," Sergei Sobyanin emphasizes.

“The competent organization of work has allowed us to effectively build the routing of patients depending on rapid tests for COVID-19, and the city to reach a state of stability,” said Andrey Tyazhelnikov, head physician of the city diagnostic clinic N 121. “Therefore, now there are all conditions for recovery from Monday planned assistance. "Moscow medicine copes with such an unprecedented load," the head of the city assessed the work of doctors in this way. And in fact: reception in polyclinics goes almost without queues, patients need a visit to the doctor within half an hour. During the day, doctors go to the sick and make house calls. There are no problems in getting through to the emergency numbers, whose teams arrive within 11-12 minutes, as on ordinary days.

Now, when there are fewer calls to special SARS departments and telemedicine units, doctors have the opportunity to pay more attention to patients who need special care - Muscovites over 65 years old. They will visit the sick at home, regardless of the severity of the disease, which will help prevent possible complications.

On behalf of all Muscovites, Sobyanin thanked doctors, paramedics, nurses and administrators for their professional and human feat. Moscow health care, he stressed, has once again proved its readiness for the most difficult challenges in protecting the health and life of Muscovites.

Help

Recently, up to 40,000 people per hour have called the number of the reference medical service 122 in the capital during rush hour. This is almost 20 times more than usual. 7,000 operators answered calls, 800 of which work remotely, and 1,500 are volunteers of the State Budgetary Institution "Mosvolonter". To make it easier for Muscovites to get through, the number of call center channels has been increased to 21,000. For those who do not get through, the operators will definitely call back themselves as soon as it becomes freer.
