The expert spoke about the true purpose of the US initiative on the negotiations between Biden and Putin

Director of the Franklin Roosevelt Foundation for the Study of the United States at Moscow State University Yuri Rogulev told RIA Novosti that US President Joseph Biden, after a telephone conversation with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin, tried to put pressure on the Russian Federation, and not come to any compromise.

“They planned a conversation, but somewhere in a week. And at the same time, calls from the defense ministers and foreign ministers followed in a coordinated manner. That is, it does not look like some kind of conciliatory step or an attempt to resolve the issue. All this was part of the campaign launched by the Americans against Russia. I think that it is unlikely that anything will change in the near future,” Rogulev said.

According to him, the Americans do not want to discuss the issues promoted by Russia, and are trying to "replace one with the other."

“An attempt to present Russia as an aggressive country that forces everyone else to take extraordinary measures in the form of the evacuation of their diplomats,” the head of the Foundation concluded.

Earlier, Biden, during a conversation with Putin, “made it clear” that in the event of a Russian invasion of Ukraine, Washington and its allies would “strongly respond” and impose serious sanctions on Moscow.
