Six employees of one of the UN humanitarian agencies were abducted on Saturday in Yemen. They were captured by a group of armed men in the province of Abyan, Yemen News reports.

According to him, along with the UN staff, the military police fighters accompanying them were also taken away in an unknown direction. There is information that the extremists are trying to negotiate the exchange of hostages for their previously arrested accomplices, TASS reports.

Among the abducted are a citizen of Bulgaria and five Yemenis, RIA Novosti clarifies, citing local media. The World Organization is in close contact with the authorities to ensure their return.

It is known that UN representatives were in Yemen on a working trip to study the humanitarian situation in Abyan.
