Canadian Foreign Minister Melanie Joly said that due to the "aggravation" of the situation in Ukraine, the country's embassy in Kiev will be evacuated, TASS reports.

“Given the deteriorating security situation caused by the concentration of Russian troops on the border with Ukraine, [the Canadian authorities will organize - ] a temporary representative office in Lviv and suspend the work of the embassy in Kiev,” Joly said.

She specified that consular assistance for Canadian citizens in Ukraine would be limited.

“However, our ability to provide diplomatic support may be severely limited,” concluded Joly.

Earlier, the head of EU diplomacy, Josep Borrell, said that the diplomatic missions of the EU countries in Kiev are not going to stop their work.

He noted that recommendations on visiting Ukraine for EU citizens will be updated taking into account the security situation. According to the diplomat, the EU countries are coordinating actions, taking into account the current situation in Ukraine.
