Guberniev responded to Putin's words to the former head of WADA, who suggested that Russia skip several Olympics

Sports commentator and journalist Dmitry Guberniev said that no one would seriously respond to the calls of the former head of WADA, Dick Pound, to miss several Olympics until the problems with doping in Russia are resolved, our team acts “honestly and cleanly.”

“We have the doping situation under control. I think that it is completely superfluous to say that we are doing something wrong. We declared a merciless fight against doping many years ago, and we won this fight. Our team performs honestly and cleanly, and everyone else can go to the garden, ”Guberniev said.

The journalist noted that Pound has the right to any statements in a democratic country, the only question is how Russia should treat this.

“We proudly go forward, we pass doping tests. With Valieva, the story is absolutely random, and I hope we will prove everything that happened there. But as for the opportunity to miss ... My answer is classic: "I like it, I don't like it - be patient, my beauty," Guberniev explained.

According to Reuters, the first head of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA), IOC member Richard Pound said that Russian sports should take a break and miss several Olympic Games in order to bring the doping situation under control.

“At some point, if they are absolutely incorrigible, a situation arises when the country needs to take a timeout. We could say that we can help you focus on your problem. Take time out for one or two or three Olympics until the situation is under control,” Pound said.

The CAS hearing on Valieva's case will take place on February 13. The International Olympic Committee and the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) demand that the athlete be suspended from performances.

Recall that the banned substance trimetazidine was found in the December doping test of Valieva. The athlete was suspended, but she protested the decision, RUSADA allowed her to continue performing at the Beijing Olympics. However, after that, the International Olympic Committee filed a protest. It will be reviewed by the CAS exit panel in Beijing.

Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin, during a press conference following talks with French leader Emmanuel Macron in Moscow, used the phrase “Well, if you like it or not, be patient, my beauty,” referring to Ukraine’s attitude to the Minsk agreements.
