Zelensky at a meeting with Scholz mixed up English words

During a meeting with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky tried to pronounce the phrase in English, but made a mistake.

"I'm okay with shakehanding," the Ukrainian leader said during a handshake with the chancellor.

Apparently, the president meant that he was not against shaking hands (“I'm okay with handshaking”), but mixed up parts of the phrase.

On February 14, Zelensky received Scholz in Kiev, he met the chancellor at the entrance to the Mariinsky Palace. Etiquette expert Tatyana Baranova noticed that their handshake “by the fingertips” and shaking hands looked undiplomatic and strange.

In 2020, Zelensky proposed to capitalize the word "independence" ("independence"). The President voiced this idea on the day of the 29th anniversary of the independence referendum on December 1, 1991.
