Zelensky addressed the citizens of Ukraine

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky addressed the nation and announced the approval of the Day of Unity. The video message was published on the Politics of the Country Telegram channel.

He said that Ukraine is being “frightened by a big war” and this is not the first time that a date for a military invasion has been set, but today Ukraine is stronger than ever.

“We are told that February 16 will be the day of the attack. We will make it Unity Day. The corresponding decree has already been signed. On this day, we will hang out national flags, put on blue and yellow ribbons and show our unity to the whole world,” the President said.

He stressed that Kiev is striving for peace and wants to resolve "all issues exclusively through negotiations", does not "encroach on someone else's", but will not "give up its own". According to him, both Donbass and Crimea will return to Ukraine - and "exclusively through diplomatic means."

Ukraine has a "great army" with combat experience and modern weapons, and Ukrainians have a "great European aspiration" for freedom and a willingness to fight for it, Zelensky said.

Meanwhile, Oleksiy Danilov, Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, said earlier that he sees no prerequisites for a large-scale Russian invasion on February 16-17, as Western media reported. He stressed that the situation is "absolutely under control", the security and defense sector of Ukraine is ready for any challenges.
