UN Secretary General Guterres and Lavrov discussed the non-issuance of US visas to Russian diplomats

UN Secretary General António Guterres held talks with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, during which, among other things, problems with issuing US visas to Russian diplomats were discussed. This was stated by the official representative of the UN Secretary General Stefan Dujarric, RIA Novosti reports.

“In addition to the topic of Ukraine, they also discussed other issues: Libya, Syria, and also the ongoing problem of issuing visas between the host country and the Russian Federation,” said Dujarric.

The talks, he said, lasted more than 20 minutes.

The representative of the UN Secretary General also stressed that Guterres still believes that there will be no war in Ukraine.

Earlier, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson said that Russia could invade Ukraine within 48 hours. He called on all parties to dialogue, and the Russian government to avoid a "catastrophic mistake for Russia."

However, Oleksiy Danilov, secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, said he sees no prerequisites for a large-scale Russian invasion on February 16-17. He stressed that the situation is "absolutely under control", the security and defense sector of Ukraine is ready for any challenges.
