Representatives of the French administration stressed that they "remain vigilant" while monitoring the situation in Ukraine. "Paris asks President Putin not to agree with the Duma's request and not to recognize the independence of Donetsk and Lugansk," the French presidential administration said.

Earlier, at a plenary session, the State Duma decided to immediately send an appeal to the president with a call to consider the issue of recognizing the LNR and the DNR as independent, sovereign and independent states. 351 MPs voted for this decision, 16 voted against, 1 MP abstained.
