"During today's talks, which took place in a businesslike atmosphere, we substantively and thoroughly discussed a number of issues of bilateral relations and the prospects for their development," Putin said.

According to the president, "of course, we paid special attention to the most pressing issues on the international agenda."

“We have always strived to strengthen interaction between our states. The impression is that the Federal Chancellor is also set on further pragmatic and mutually beneficial cooperation,” the President of Russia noted.

Earlier, the press secretary of Russian President Vladimir Putin, Dmitry Peskov, said that German Chancellor Olaf Scholz would be at a distance from Vladimir Putin because of his refusal to do a PCR test during negotiations.

He clarified that the statements of Olaf Scholz that Germany is on the side of Ukraine will not affect the meeting with the Russian president.
