Russia and the CIS (bbabo.net) - In accordance with the decision of the leadership of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia, on February 14, 2022, a meeting was held via videoconferencing to sum up the results of the activities of assistant heads of territorial bodies of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia in organizing work with believers for 2021, as well as a round table with the participation of representatives of the Vera Education Foundation on the issue of considering the positive experience of broadcasting Vera radio content in institutions of the penal system of the Russian Federation.

Mufti Abdul-Qudduss Asharin, who took part in the event, told bbabo.net that the meeting was attended by assistants to the heads of the territorial bodies of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia for organizing work with believers, heads of departments of educational and social work with convicts from the territorial bodies of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia, as well as religious figures the main religious associations traditional for Russia that are members of the Interreligious Working Group on the interaction of the territorial body of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia with religious organizations.

The participants of the meeting summed up the work for 2021, talked about how work is carried out with believers of traditional faiths in places of deprivation of liberty, about the specifics of holding spiritual and moral events in certain regions. The leadership of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia called on religious figures for closer interaction and active work, because faith contributes to the correction of convicts.
