Russia (bbabo.net), - Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that Russia's responses to letters from the United States and NATO on the issue of security guarantees will be transmitted to Washington and Brussels in the near future.
“As to whether this means the end of history? No, this is not the end of history. I reported to President Putin yesterday and stressed that our proposals, which he approved in principle and which will now be finalized and transmitted to the American and NATO partners, they proceed from maintaining the integrity of the Russian position," Lavrov said following talks with Polish Foreign Minister Zbigniew Rau.
Lavrov admitted the possibility of working out a "good" package result on the topic of security guarantees.
"I think that thanks to the efforts in all these areas, a very good package result can be worked out in combination," Lavrov said at a press conference on Tuesday.
Lavrov noted that Russia appreciated Poland's proposal to resume the dialogue on European security within the OSCE.
"We consider this proposal interesting. It shows an understanding of the existing problems and a desire to do something," the Russian Foreign Minister said.
Nevertheless, according to the head of the Russian Foreign Ministry, the main thing for Russia at the moment is the dialogue with the United States and NATO. Since "in the absence of progress on the American and NATO track, the conversation in Vienna will obviously be fruitless."
Russia rejects the attempt by Western colleagues to interpret the OSCE principle of the indivisibility of security in its own way, Lavrov also said. "We reject the attempt of our Western colleagues to interpret the principles, the OSCE commitments on the indivisibility of security in such a way that they supposedly know better how to ensure the security of Russia. We must end with this arrogance, and we must end with Russophobia," he said.
Lavrov also said that the return of Russian troops to their places of permanent deployment is proceeding according to the planned schedule, regardless of the hysteria of the West due to the allegedly impending Russian invasion of Ukraine.
"As for the exercises that Russia is conducting, I will emphasize once again, on its own territory, in accordance with its own plans - they begin, are carried out and end as planned. We have talked about this many times," he noted. as regards the exercises in the west of the country, as regards similar events in the Far East or joint Russian-Belarusian exercises, which are also being developed and carried out strictly in accordance with a pre-agreed schedule, and this is done regardless of who thinks what, who and how will hysteria about this, who and how is deploying real information terrorism, I am not afraid of this word.
