Senator Kovitidi: Russia does not want war, therefore it talks about security

Russia (bbabo.net), - Russia's national security guarantees are inextricably linked with security issues in Europe, so the dialogue should be exclusively diplomatic, said Olga Kovitidi, member of the Federation Council Committee on Constitutional Legislation and State Building, Senator from Crimea.

Earlier, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that Moscow's reaction to the US and NATO responses to proposals for security guarantees would be published.

"It is important to realize that clearly formulated guarantees of Russia's national security are inextricably linked with issues of European security. Russia is tuned exclusively to a diplomatic dialogue based solely on common sense," Kovitidi told RIA Novosti.

The senator believes that it is necessary to clear the world information space of aggressive rhetoric. "Everything is very simple and understandable. Russia does not want war, so it talks about security," she explained.

Kovitidi recalled that Russia's national interests include peace in Europe, non-expansion of the North Atlantic Alliance, shifting its military infrastructure to the state of 1997, and non-deployment of combat strike systems near Russia's borders.

"The spirit of cooperation and mutual understanding must return to world politics. Trust between the OSCE participating countries must be returned," the politician concluded.
