"The heads of state stressed their determination to strengthen strategic partnership, deepen political dialogue, and raise the level of bilateral relations based on respect for sovereignty, international law and the principles of the rule of law shared by both countries," the statement said.
Russia and Brazil want to increase cooperation in the agro-industrial sector. "The parties stressed the importance of further cooperation between the supervisory authorities of Russia and Brazil in order to expand access to the markets of the two countries, including by increasing the number of certified enterprises exporting products of animal and vegetable origin, as well as fish products," the document emphasizes.
Putin and Bolsonaro also discussed the prospects for strengthening cooperation in the military sphere and in space. "The presidents noted cooperation in the space field and the implementation of joint projects in the field of satellite navigation and space debris tracking," the statement says.
The leaders also reaffirmed the need for joint action to prevent an arms race in outer space.
In addition, Russia and Brazil will support efforts to ban the development, production and use of chemical weapons.
The statement also indicates that the presidents are concerned about the growth of instability in different regions of the world. "The heads of state share the opinion on the need to resolve conflicts by peaceful, diplomatic means in accordance with the norms of international law, including the UN Charter," the statement says.
The Russian Federation and Brazil also supported the entry into force of the nuclear test ban treaty.
