Russia (bbabo.net), - Russian President Vladimir Putin and Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida held a telephone conversation on Thursday, February 17. According to the Kremlin, the conversation took place on the initiative of the Japanese side.

"In connection with the interest shown by the Prime Minister of Japan, the President of Russia informed in detail about the ongoing work with the United States and its NATO allies to promote the initiative to develop long-term legal security guarantees," the message says.

The President also spoke in detail about the origins and causes of the intra-Ukrainian conflict. During the conversation, the principal Russian approaches to its settlement in accordance with the Minsk Package of Measures and the decisions adopted in the Normandy format were outlined. Putin and Kishida also discussed issues of Russian-Japanese relations.

"Mutual interest in their constructive development on the basis of existing agreements, including in the trade and economic sphere, has been confirmed," the Kremlin's website says.
