The man came to the emergency department of OKB No. 2 in early February, complained that he had hit a chisel with a hammer, something flew into his eye, and he did not pay attention to discomfort until inflammation began.

The situation required emergency intervention and the man was admitted to the hospital.

First, the foreign body was removed from the patient. Then the second stage began.

The inflammatory process affected all parts of the eyeball, doctors had to perform vitreoretinal intervention - a complex and at the same time promising area of ​​​​surgical ophthalmology, which is a combined intervention that is performed on the retina and vitreous body.

Such a high-tech method is carried out for complex diseases of the organs of vision and is considered aerobatics in ophthalmology.

“The patient managed to save not only the eyeball, but also restore his vision, which in this case was in question. Already today the man began to see one line of the table. He will be discharged in a few days, the left eye will continue to recover, and vision will return to normal,” Svetlana Sakharova, head of the department, told.
