The head of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine Oleksiy Reznikov said that the Ukrainian army is “mentally” ready to stop any enemy. His words are quoted by RIA Novosti.
He said that in a year the Ukrainian army should optimize all processes as much as possible, launch a personnel reform, the process of eliminating the queue for apartments and give impetus to the country's defense industry in order to become a driver for the modernization of all of Ukraine.
According to him, after these steps, Ukraine will become a security donor for the whole of Europe.
“Our army is mentally ready to stop any enemy, this is the country’s strategic advantage and we need to fully unlock this potential,” Reznikov said.
Earlier, Reznikov said that he did not believe in the scenario of Russia's attack on Kiev. At the same time, he pointed out that "an attack is possible" only from Belarus, but on the border with the neighboring republic there are "swamps, thickets, impassable terrain", so this is also an "apocalyptic scenario."
The story of a possible “Russian invasion” of Ukraine has been actively promoted in the West since mid-autumn last year. The US has consistently pointed to a supposed increase in Russia's presence near Ukraine's borders, threatening Moscow with new sanctions if it escalates. At the same time, the Kremlin has more than once directly denied any plans to attack Ukraine, on the contrary, pointing to the possible preparation of a military operation in the Donbass by Kiev.
