EU countries are afraid for their economy due to the imposition of sanctions against Russia

European countries are concerned that the imposition of sanctions against Russia could greatly harm their economy, which is linked to the Russian market and energy resources.

According to Bloombe, Poland, France, the Netherlands and Germany are concerned that sanctions against Russia will have negative consequences for European financial institutions, as well as the raw materials and energy sectors of the economy.

At the same time, Rome even asked to exclude the energy sector from the sanctions package. The Italians are also worried about their luxury goods, which are entering the Russian market on a rather impressive scale. Italy proposes to impose restrictions on individuals and does not want sectoral sanctions, reports Bloombe.

The agency believes that sanctions may be imposed in the event of "Russia's invasion of Ukraine." However, Moscow has repeatedly at the official level refuted the "invasion" exaggerated in the Western media.

Recall that at the end of 2021, Russia presented a draft treaty with the United States and an agreement with NATO on security guarantees. The documents outline Moscow's key demands for non-expansion of NATO and non-deployment of the alliance's strike weapons near Russia's borders. No agreement has yet been reached with the West on this topic.
